What happens when you merge video technology, machine learning, and IoT? Twenty-eight talents provided ingenious answers to the question when we opened the door to the 2018 Milestone Hackathon in Copenhagen October 27-28.
In cooperation with Maersk and IBM, we invited the participants to come up with new solutions to key challenges within logistics and retail. Divided into seven groups, the hackers proved that great ideas plus thorough planning equals awesome products. It was problem solving at its finest.
The hackathon took place under the heading “Creating an Intelligent World”. As explained by Milestone CTO Bjørn Skou Eilertsen it’s all about combining machine learning with human judgement in order to allow people to make better decisions.
Intelligence – as in increased knowledge – also seems to be the result of simply putting people together. With participant feedback such as “I’ve learned new things”, “I’ve connected with people”, and “This has been a great experience”, we would be hard-pressed not to file the hackathon as a major success.
A big thank you to all who participated and an equally big congratulations to Trackport – the winner of the DKK 25,000 grand prize.
